My Church History professor at Erskine Seminary used to begin every semester with John 1:14 (find it above). He would then ask the following question, which side of the horse do you fall off of: grace or truth?
A Root Passage
This is one of my favorite passages in Scripture. We find it nestled within a chapter describing holy living. Having laid out Jesus Christ’s power (He’s God!), necessity (the Gospel!), and victory (He defeated death!) in the previous two chapters, Paul transitions the reader to some logical conclusions.

One of the wonderful things about God’s Word is its connection. With the Holy Spirit’s guidance, the Gospel of Jesus Christ (salvation) is revealed to us. Not only that, this same Gospel of Jesus Christ reveals to us a way of life (growth). Here are four passages that are worth connecting. Let’s do it in two parts: content and practice.
