Tearing Down Strongholds

Late last year, we once again observed the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.  And though we have many reasons to rejoice that this wall came down, I continue to experience, on a daily basis, its lasting impact on the lives of those living in former Easter Berlin.  Over 99% of my neighbors do not know Christ, as Lord and Savior.  The physical barrier has been removed, but other “walls” still hold people in darkness.

Three “unseen” walls that I see here on a daily basis are:

Atheistic mindset - Berlin has been described as the capital of atheism.

Postmodern worldview - Whatever is right for you is ok.

Family Pressure - Those who do come to faith are usually the first Christians in their families and are not supported in their faith by their families.

Thankfully, we serve a great God who is in the business of breaking down spiritual walls!  In the midst of unbelief, the power of the Gospel continues to transform lives - one at a time.
